EOTC & Camp

Camp with our Year 6 students

At Wakaaranga, we believe in the importance of Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) to enrich our students' learning experiences. Throughout the year, classes will participate in EOTC experiences, including offsite excursions that are closely linked to their inquiry learning. These may involve visits to offsite educational facilities that provide hands-on learning opportunities and real-world connections to classroom topics.

For our Year 5 students, we collaborate with local EOTC Facilitators to provide a series of onsite activities that promote teamwork and essential skills development. These experiences include tent building, archery, and various other outdoor learning opportunities designed to foster collaboration and practical knowledge.

In Year 6, our students embark on an exciting adventure at Lakewood Lodge Camp. This 4-day, 3-night camping experience is a cornerstone of our EOTC program, focusing on developing independence, teamwork, self-management, and care for others. The camp aims to create positive, lifelong memories through a variety of day and evening activities led by trained instructors. Students enjoy fantastic meals, engage in challenging activities, interact with animals, and participate in the popular Survival Adventure.

Health and safety are paramount at Lakewood Lodge. As one of the first operators to be registered as an Adventure Activity Operator (AAO) with Worksafe NZ, Lakewood Lodge ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for all our students.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to experience nature and challenge yourself while having fun and making friends.
