PE & Health

At Wakaaranga School, sport and physical education are a vital part of our curriculum. All students participate in organized programs designed to develop physical skills, coordination, teamwork, and determination.

Regular sports and physical education sessions, along with regular fitness exercises, ensure that our students stay active and engaged.

Highlights of our sports and physical education programme include:

- Sessions with a Specialist PE Teacher: All students from Year 0-6 receive focused instruction from our specialist PE teacher, enhancing their physical skills and overall fitness.

- Skill Development Linked to HPPA Sporting Calendar: Our program is designed to develop the necessary skills for sports featured in the Howick and Pakuranga Principals’ Association (HPPA) sporting calendar, preparing students for inter-school competitions.

- Regular Taster Sessions with Local Sports Clubs: We collaborate with local sports clubs to offer regular taster sessions, introducing students to a variety of sports and encouraging participation in community sports outside of school.

- cross country, athletics day, aquatic programmes and much much more!

Health education is an essential part of our curriculum, aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills to lead healthy, balanced lives. We teach our students about physical well-being, mental health, nutrition, and personal safety. Our programme encourages positive lifestyle choices, helping children understand the importance of staying active, eating well, and taking care of their mental and emotional health. By fostering a strong foundation in health education, we empower our students to make informed decisions that will benefit them throughout their lives.
